DHS’ Mayorkas ‘Very Pleased’ with End of Trump-Era Border Program

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says he is pleased the Supreme Court issued a ruling allowing the agency to discontinue the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy. Mayorkas says the Migrant Protection Protocols requiring migrants to remain in Mexico as their asylum claims are processed has “endemic flaws, and it has unjustifiable human costs.”

Exclusive: 1,700 Migrants Arrested in Texas Border Town in One Day

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended 1,772 migrants after they crossed the Rio Grande in a single day in Eagle Pass. The steady stream of migrants apprehended after crossing the river included one group numbering more than 500. On Thursday, the number of apprehensions exceeded any other single day total for the city according to the source.

For the second time in less than 24 hours, migrants are dead following a crash as smugglers attempted to avoid arrest. Texas Department of Public Safety officials report that four migrants died and two others are in critical condition when a Jeep driven by a suspected human smuggler crashed into a tractor-trailer while fleeing from law enforcement. Officials report the driver is in critical condition (brain dead).

China’s regime-run Global Times communist propaganda outlet condemned the discovery of at least 51 dead people attempting to illegally enter the United States on Monday in San Antonio, Texas, as a “stain on Washington’s human rights record” despite overwhelming evidence that the deaths were the product of extralegal human trafficking, not actions by the American government.
